Peony: A Fusion of Tradition and Elegance

ARTTA Concept's Award-Winning Chinese Restaurant Design

Peony's design inspiration stems from the Buckeye Belle, a signature peony flower. The color red, derived from this flower, is juxtaposed with the skyline and striking bronze accents in the interior. The rich colors of the Buckeye Belle red, shades of grey from upholstery, and bronze-colored metallic partitions set the perfect ambiance for the dining space. This design represents good fortune, prosperity, and honor, embodying the essence of a traditional Chinese restaurant.

The unique properties of Peony lie in its panoramic views of Discovery Bay, offering a luscious journey to its patrons. The design was realized using 3D Computer Simulation for the feature ceiling, ensuring accurate data to prevent harsh sunlight while allowing comfortable lighting to illuminate the dining hall. The use of 3D Printing Technology for creating prototypes for unique ceiling designs further enhances the restaurant's aesthetic appeal.

With a total area of 1,200 sq.m., the restaurant's design was a rebranding interior project for a classic restaurant in Hong Kong. The design process, which started in June 2021 and concluded in February 2022, was meticulously planned to ensure the best results due to the unique condition of the site. The design team, including Arthur Tang, Natalie Chan, Rio Law, and Cherry Ho, worked tirelessly on the 3D and Planning Layout side by side to achieve this.

The design faced challenges due to the dramatic height difference between the two dining areas and the excessive sunlight causing high temperatures in the space. However, these challenges were overcome by balancing functional and eye-catching gestures in the design. The result is a design that exudes the warmth and familiarity of a traditional Chinese restaurant with the refinement and elegance synonymous with the peony.

Peony's design was recognized with a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2022. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. Peony's design, admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcases a remarkable level of excellence and introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
